Renal Failure
RENAL is a complete dietetic food for dogs formulated :
- to support the renal function in case of chronic renal insufficiency or temporary renal insufficiency, with a low level of phosphorus and restricted level of protein of high quality.
- to reduce oxalate stone formation, with low level of calcium and vitamin D, and urine alkalizing properties.
Feeding Duration
Provides dietary management in chronic renal failure including early renal failure. Renal Canine should be fed for the pet’s lifetime. Regular veterinary checks are advised.
In chronic renal failure (CRF), the kidneys are no longer able to properly eliminate phosphorus. Limiting the dietary phosphorus intake is an essential measure to slow down the progression of renal failure.
Flavonols (a particular type of green tea polyphenol) have two major actions: they help to slow down the oxidative process and promote renal perfusion.
A higher intake of long chain omega 3 fatty acids (EPA, DHA) helps to limit the decrease of glomerular filtration rate.
Increased uraemia may induce the formation of gastric and intestinal mucosa ulcers. The combination of zeolite with FOS minimises this risk.
Further information:
Dogs with renal failure have a reduced appetite so highly palatable food is essential.
Canine Renal kibble is easily crunched even by dogs with dental pain. Dogs with renal failure are often elderly:
Renal Canine has a very high antioxidant content to fight against free radicals, the negative effects of which increase with age.
Recommended daily quantities (g/day):
Water should be available at all times
